RAMBAM est le nom, en hébreu, du médecin, talmudiste et philosophe juif andalou Maïmonide (1135 - 1204), auteur, entre autres, de la Mishneh Torah, somme en 14 volumes de la loi juive. Dans la sculpture, ces 14 livres qui servent de support aux lettres hebraiques entrelacées qui forment son nom.
